The Bulls come into this game following a 116 point output against a tough Miami defense, but they may be due for a letdown spot in Washington on Friday. DeMar DeRozan dropped 37 points, but the Wizards should have a solid game plan in place to slow him down in this matchup knowing that Chicago doesn’t have many other dangerous scorers with LaVine and Ball sidelined.

Chicago Bulls vs Washington Wizards predictionsCapital One ArenaNBCSDC1-0Bulls7:00 PM ETToday1-0WizardsResident Expert PredictionsPoint Spread PickWAS Wizards Win -1. 5ReasoningThe Bulls and Wizards both picked up a win in their season openers a few days ago, and now they’ll meet up in Washington on Friday night. While the Bulls picked up a more impressive win over the Heat compared to the Wizards who took down the Pacers, Washington presents a sneaky tough matchup for the shorthanded Bulls in their home opener. Chicago looked impressive in their first win against the Heat in Miami, as DeMar DeRozan picked up right where he left off last season, dropping 37 points and leading the team to victory. While it’s a great sign that DeRozan is still terrorizing opponents, the lack of help around him is an issue.
Ayo Dosunmo and Nikola Vucevic chipped in 32 points between the two of them, but there wasn’t much help elsewhere from the Chicago bench. With Zach LaVine and Lonzo Ball sidelined to open the season, the Bulls will need more contributions from their bench until those key pieces return. Meanwhile, the Wizards received well balanced contributions from their roster in their opening win over the Pacers. It wasn’t necessarily a tough opponent, but Washington showed that they have a talented lineup highlighted by Bradley Beal and Kristaps Porzingis. Despite Chicago finishing 6th in the Eastern Conference standings last season compared to the Wizards who finished 12th, it’s very telling why the oddsmakers have made the Wizards short favorites.
